Physicians on strike

Unwilling to accept low wages, Estonian physicians are on strike now at the four largest hospitals – for an indefinite period.

Due to this so far strongest protest of  physicians, in three hospitals of Tallinn and in one of Tartu only emergency operations are possible and treatment on station.

Because of low payment, many medical staff have left the country. Estonia, with its 1,3 million inhabitants, has strongly reduced its health spendings in the past years.
